Have you forgotten?

I wonder what the per-detainee cost is at Gitmo? The cost to feed the barbarians is known: $12.68/day which sounds like a real deal when you consider the menu:

Blackner said Guantanamo’s culturally sensitive menu also includes whole wheat bagels, fresh fruit, rice pilaf, chicken breast in orange sauce, string cheese, veggie patties, dates, baklava and yams. A typical day’s meals provide an inmate with about 2,600 calories, he said.

If that sounds good, check out the cookbook.

Now, it’s been a while since I’ve had the “privilege” of having an MRE, what American troops carry with them in the field for sustenance(and if things haven’t changed dramatically that’s about it). Don’t get me wrong, they aren’t terrible but I have yet to find Baklava in my MRE package let alone fresh fruit. Here’s alittle bit on the latest MRE’s.

The only thing that comes CLOSE to fresh fruit in the 2006 MRE’s is “Fruit Pack, Wet”. MMmmmm…gimme some of that Fruit Pack Wet baby!

Ann Coulter‘s latest piece is dead on…as usual…and the closing paragraph had me shouting, “Hell ya!”:

American soldiers make do with C-rations. Dinner on an America West flight from New York to Las Vegas consists of one small bag of peanuts. Meanwhile, one recent menu for suspected terrorists at Guantanamo consisted of orange-glazed chicken, fresh fruit crepe, steamed peas and mushrooms, and rice pilaf. Sounds like the sort of thing you’d get at Windows on the World – if it still existed.

We all remember Windows on the World don’t we? I’m sure it’s here somewhere…

The Pile

And then consider this…Gitmo is probably the ONLY place on the planet under US Authority where I could get my religious paraphernalia GIVEN to me by the Government…oh wait…I’m Christian. Sucks to be me I guess.

See people…we are treating these barbarians far better than we should. Their menu should consists of Fried Pork Rinds and watered down Thunderbird wine. We should take note from Mr. Castro and build the gitmo prison to HIS standards.

Have we forgotten what these animals can do?

Nick Berg

Have we forgotten what they made our neighbors endure?
