Comments on: Senators McConnell and Warner dance on Durbin’s Head…

It seemed to me from the reading that Senator McConnell pretty much painted Mr. Durbin into a corner using that Senate Speak. Durbin’s response, mentioned in another entry here, is a further weak attempt to do what he did on the Senate floor.

Yer right though…nothing will come of this and we should really just expect this kind of behavior from his kind.

I can’t agree that McConnell and Warner danced on Durbin’s head. You’ve published a classic example of SenateSpeak — speeches disguised as questions and sufficiently verbose that the target can pick and choose which question(s) to answer and which to ignore. It would have been far more effective if one of them had asked a single straight question: Are you aware just how much damage your remarks will do to American troops in the hands of the al Jazeera propaganda mill?

But senators don’t really want to call each other on the carpet. They just want credit for seeming to have done so.
