Broaden your Horizons

I’ve been watching  the education forums on the 9/12 Project sites and found them to be hawking books from folks we all typically agree with. While it is always good to get the batteries recharged by Mark Levin or Glenn Beck’s wisdom, I think we might also want to read about what our adversaries are thinking.

The left are energetic writers. With all their “enlightenment”, they struggle against each other to get the latest and greatest idea out there. They don’t have a monopoly on that particular struggle, just look at the plethora of books published by our side as well. Heh, seems like everyone is out to make their buck but that is another post entirely.

My latest targets have been Van Jones and John Holdren. I think there are two publications that should be read to understand where Jones came from and where he is now.
“Reclaiming Revolution: history, summation & lessons from the work of STORM” is the END product of STORM. Sort of a requiem if you will. I’ve heard this book referenced as their manifesto and that is incorrect. Mr. Jones abandoned this group in 2000 after an internal struggle for power. I believe the publication provides a good overview of Mr. Jones political philosophy prior to his departure just 9 years ago. He left STORM to work with another organization he was instrumental in founding called PoliceWatch which, by the time he left STORM, had become the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights.

Mr. Jones’ latest endeavor is in the environmental sector called “Green Collar Economy” and is the foundational document behind the Obama Administration’s Environmental Platform. I am currently reading this book and, well, I’m not at all surprised when Mr. Jones claims the role for Government in his plan is to Regulate, Tax, and form Committees. Sounds much like the Healthcare Bill HR3200 that the media is now trying to convince me doesn’t exist.

Mr. Holdren is a horse of another color, no pun intended. This guy shouldn’t be anywhere near the White House let alone having the ear of the President. His views on population control are right out of a horror film. Some quotes from Mr. Holdren’s Ecoscience for your edification (snippets from Zombietime):

pg 786:
“One way to carry out this disapproval might be to insist that all illegitimate babies be put up for adoption—especially those born to minors, who generally are not capable of caring properly for a child alone. If a single mother really wished to keep her baby, she might be obliged to go through adoption proceedings and demonstrate her ability to support and care for it. Adoption proceedings probably should remain more difficult for single people than for married couples, in recognition of the relative difficulty of raising children alone. It would even be possible to require pregnant single women to marry or have abortions, perhaps as an alternative to placement for adoption, depending on the society. “

and pg 837
Indeed, it has been concluded that compulsory population-control laws, even including laws requiring compulsory abortion, could be sustained under the existing Constitution if the population crisis became sufficiently severe to endanger the society.

I have only spot checked this work for the quotes listed above. It is on my reading list however. Mr. Holdren shares the by-line for this book with Paul and Anne Ehrlich who once claimed in his book “Population Bomb“:

“The battle to feed all of humanity is over. In the 1970s and 1980s hundreds of millions of people will starve to death in spite of any crash programs embarked upon now. At this late date nothing can prevent a substantial increase in the world death rate…”

So, according to Mr. Ehrlich, most of us should have a much MUCH slimmer waist line.

Mr. Jones, our Green Jobs Advisor, and Mr. Holdren, our Science Advisor, are just two examples of extreme radicals currently holding the ear of our President. Reading what these men believe is vitally important to understanding what they may be planning policy wise. Get in front of them. Learn what to expect and begin to formulate your responses now so when the time comes you will be prepared to counter them.

For those who have ears, let them hear.
